In southern Italy, including Sicily, Sardinia, and Calabria, heavy rains and gusty winds have caused a sharp rise in river water levels, leading to subsequent flooding. This was reported by the Department of Civil Protection of Italy.

In the emergency situation, emergency services are working tirelessly: within a day, firefighters conducted hundreds of rescue operations, assisting both people and animals. More than 1,200 rescuers and over 400 units of equipment are deployed in the most affected areas.

On the island of Lipari, flooding of streets and coastal areas is being observed. A red alert has been declared in Calabria, Sicily, and Sardinia due to the threat of flooding and landslides.

Civil protection services are warning about the ongoing difficult weather conditions. Residents are strongly advised to avoid dangerous areas, not to cross flooded roads, and to follow the instructions of emergency services.
