At the meeting, the president emphasized that measures were taken last year to strengthen the Armed Forces of the country and modernize the material and technical base of the army.
Considering that this year Turkmenistan is celebrating the 35th anniversary of its independence, Berdymukhamedov also gave instructions regarding preparations for the upcoming celebrations.
During the meeting, representatives of the security forces presented reports on their activities. In particular, the head of the State Border Service, Yazgeldi Nuriyev, spoke about the achievements of his agency and reminded that a new border detachment complex "Sarahs" was opened with the participation of the president.
As a result of the president's decree, Nuriyev was relieved of his position as head of the Border Service due to his transition to a new job. His place was taken by Deputy Ilaman Ilamanov.
Yazgeldi Nuriyev had headed the border troops since January 2021, when he was prematurely awarded the rank of colonel. Previously, he held the position of rector of the Institute of National Security.
In addition, in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day, which is celebrated on January 27, the president signed a decree awarding a group of military personnel and employees of the military and law enforcement agencies with medals of Turkmenistan.
