In Uzbekistan, a contestant of the beauty pageant "Miss Earth 2025" was fined for using state symbols in her costume
Shahrizoda Madaminova
A court hearing took place regarding the violation of legislation on state symbols in connection with the design of Madaminova's outfit, as reported by Podrobno.uz.
The competition was held on October 28 of last year in Manila, Philippines, and was organized under the auspices of the UN to raise awareness about environmental issues. On the runway, Shahrizoda appeared in a dress featuring elements of the flag and coat of arms of Uzbekistan. These photos attracted the interest of law enforcement agencies after being published on Instagram.
At the court hearing, Madaminova explained that she drew inspiration from national symbols when creating her outfit, but noted that elements of the flag, such as the white crescent and twelve stars, were not used. The design was based on recognizable colors and shapes of the coat of arms.
The young woman appealed to the court to consider mitigating circumstances.
On January 19, 2026, the Mirabad District Court found Madaminova guilty of an offense related to part 1 of Article 203-1 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility (Violation of legislation on state symbols), imposing a fine of 2 BRV — 824,000 sums (approximately $69).
The title of "Miss Earth-2025" was won by 21-year-old model from the Czech Republic, Natalia Pushkinova, which can be found here.
