The Secretary General of the Turkic Council spoke at the Global Tourism Forum in Davos

The forum took place as part of the World Economic Forum Week and became an important platform for discussing the interconnection between geopolitics, economic security, and future trends in global tourism.

In his speech, Omuraliyev presented the strategic vision of the Turkic Council in the field of tourism and cultural cooperation. He noted that tourism is a key means of soft power, contributing to building trust between states and regional stability through increased mobility and interaction among people.

The Secretary General also discussed how the Turkic region adapts state policy to the goals of sustainable tourism to enhance the economic resilience of countries. He provided examples of tourism initiatives implemented within the framework of the Turkic Council, including the initiative to develop the Turkic Silk Road and efforts to expand international cooperation in this area.

During the forum, Omuraliyev met with high-ranking participants and gave an interview to Euronews, in which he emphasized the growing economic potential of the Turkic region. He noted that this region, spanning territories from Anatolia to Central Asia and from the Caspian Sea to Altai, serves as an important crossroads of civilizations, trade routes, and cultural exchange. In this context, it was pointed out that Turkic states receive about 100 million foreign tourists, which is a significant achievement for their community.

The forum was attended by world leaders, including the Prime Minister of Mongolia, Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene, and the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Harini Amarasuriya, as well as the Chairman of Euronews, Pedro Vargas David, ministers and representatives from various countries, and delegates from the private sector.

Participants of the event discussed the role of tourism as a foundation for economic resilience at the national level and the importance of state participation in global governance. The program also included discussions on public-private partnership issues and a round table dedicated to sustainable development topics, including climate resilience and achieving carbon neutrality in the hospitality sector.
