Lukashenko signed a document on Belarus' accession to Trump's 'Council of Peace'

Lukashenko noted that Belarus recognizes its capabilities and sees cooperation with the Council of Peace as an opportunity to discuss and promote peaceful initiatives regarding Ukraine. "I hope that we can influence the Ukrainian leadership and contribute to peace," he added.

Additionally, the president refuted information about the need for an initial contribution of $1 billion to participate in the Council. He emphasized that according to the charter, the first three years of participation as a founder are free, and further membership can be extended either with a contribution or without it if the Council's work is effective. "I am counting on the second option," he stated.

Thus, Belarus became the first European country to join the Council of Peace. On January 20, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates also confirmed its accession to this organization. In total, Trump sent invitations to about 50 countries, including Russia and Ukraine, as well as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

It is worth noting that France and the United Kingdom have already refused to participate in the Council, and Norway has also confirmed its unwillingness to join the organization, as reported by the local Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Against the backdrop of Paris's refusal, Trump threatened to impose tariffs on French champagne and wines.
