Uzbekistan has been invited to join the Council of Peace as a founding state. In Trump's address, it is mentioned that the initiative is based on the Comprehensive Plan proposed on September 29, 2025, and approved by UN Security Council Resolution No. 2803 on November 17, 2025, aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza.
One of the most important aspects of this initiative is the creation of the Council of Peace – a new international structure aimed at uniting countries willing to take responsibility for establishing long-term peace and stability.
Mirziyoyev has already sent a response letter to Trump, confirming Uzbekistan's readiness to become a founding member of the Council of Peace. In his message, he emphasized that this initiative is a significant step towards resolving protracted conflicts in the Middle East and ensuring peace and stability in the region.
The establishment of the Council of Peace in the Gaza Strip was announced by Trump on January 16, 2026. This organization became part of the U.S. president's peace plan, which also includes the deployment of international peacekeeping forces.
On the same day, the White House announced the composition of the executive committee of the Council, which will consist of seven members, including U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff, the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.
According to Bloomberg, the Trump administration is offering countries wishing to hold a permanent seat on the Council to contribute at least $1 billion. The draft charter of the organization states that the first chairman of the Council will be Trump himself, who will make decisions about the composition of the organization and have the right to approve or reject decisions made by a majority vote.
Earlier, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also received an invitation from Trump to join the "Council of Peace" and has already agreed to participate. Meanwhile, Moscow has confirmed that a similar invitation was sent to Vladimir Putin, who is currently considering the details of this proposal.
