The incident occurred at the Baogang United Steel company in the city of Bugat yesterday around 15:00 local time. According to the official Chinese news agency Xinhua, citing sources, the explosion sent clouds of black smoke into the air and caused underground tremors in the area.
A large-scale operation is currently underway to rescue the victims. Forces from the autonomous region, as well as local services from the city of Bugat and the Kundulun district, have been dispatched to the scene. The police have deployed more than 170 personnel, 70 pieces of equipment, and five drones, while fire and rescue services have involved over 130 of their staff.
The causes of the explosion, which resulted in noticeable tremors in the vicinity, are still being investigated.
