Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, during a meeting at the Élysée Palace, announced the need to wear sunglasses due to "minor issues." This was reported by Le Parisien.

Macron noted: "Sorry for the glasses, I will need to wear them for a while, so you'll have to get used to it."

The reasons for which the president is forced to wear glasses were not specified.

The day before, on January 15, Macron appeared in public with a reddened eye. Speaking to military personnel at the strategic airbase in Istres, he apologized for his "unattractive appearance" and joked that the redness could be perceived "as a tribute to a tiger."

According to information from the Élysée Palace, the cause of the redness was a rupture of a small blood vessel.
