According to information provided by DW, Zelensky made this statement on Friday, January 16, during a press conference with Czech President Petr Pavel. Citing "European Truth," the publication noted that important meetings are expected in the coming days.

The President of Ukraine expressed hope that the results of the negotiations would help clarify the situation regarding both the documents prepared with the American side and Russia's reaction to the current diplomatic efforts.

Zelensky emphasized the need to finalize a number of materials related to the security and recovery of Ukraine. He added that if everything is ready, the signing of the agreement could take place within the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos, which will be held from January 19 to 23.

According to him, "the main thing is not to urgently sign the document, but to take into account all aspects discussed with partners, so that Ukraine does not end up 'naked and barefoot' after the war and receives real financial support."

Discussions are underway to attract about $800 billion over ten years for the country's recovery. The signing of the agreement could open access to loans, grants, and investments from private companies.

Additionally, Zelensky reported at the press conference about receiving a new package of missiles for air defense systems, which could not previously be used due to a lack of ammunition. At the time of the morning briefing in Kyiv, there were several air defense systems without missiles, but at present, ammunition has arrived.

Zelensky also noted that he has to actively pursue each aid package from European countries and the U.S.

On January 14, Donald Trump, commenting on the situation, stated in an interview with Reuters that Ukraine, unlike Russia, is less prepared to conclude a peace agreement. When asked why negotiations led by the U.S. have not ended the four-year war, he replied: "Zelensky," without going into details.

On January 15, Zelensky stated that the ongoing Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure indicate Moscow's unwillingness to engage in peaceful negotiations.

In December 2025, the President of Ukraine presented 20 points of a peace plan for the first time, which is being discussed by the parties. As reported by AFP on January 16, Kyiv and its European partners have agreed with the U.S. on the main parameters of this plan.
