Export of combed cashmere from Mongolia increased by 28.7% in 2025
According to the latest data released by the General Customs Administration of Mongolia on Tuesday, in 2025, cashmere exports in the country reached 4,000 tons, amounting to $330.6 million. This volume is 28.7% higher than in 2024.
As part of the initiative to develop this industry in Mongolia, an investment of ₮198 billion (approximately $57.5 million) is planned to increase the capacities of processing enterprises.
By 2028, it is expected that primary processing of cashmere in the domestic market will reach 100%, while deep processing will reach 40%.
According to the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry of Mongolia, the expected revenues from cashmere exports could reach $700 million.
Currently, there are about 50 companies operating in the country engaged in cashmere processing, with a total processing capacity of 119,000 tons of washed cashmere.
