Samsung and Apple maintained their leadership in smartphone shipments worldwide
According to data provided by the research company IDC Tracker, South Korean Samsung and American Apple maintained their positions at the top of the global smartphone market last year. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
Apple sold 247.8 million smartphones over the year, accounting for 19.7% of the total global sales volume. This figure is 6.3% higher compared to the previous year. In the fourth quarter, the company also showed a growth of 4.9%, selling 81.3 million devices.
In turn, Samsung shipped 241.2 million smartphones, which corresponds to 19.1% of the global supply volume, increasing by 7.9% year-on-year. In the last quarter of this year, the growth was 18.3%, totaling 61.2 million devices.
“Samsung showed the most significant growth in the fourth quarter since 2013, which is attributed to high sales of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and affordable Galaxy A models with artificial intelligence. Apple, in turn, recorded its best results for the fourth quarter since 2021 and maximum quarterly revenue, confirming the success of the iPhone 17 lineup,” noted Francisco Jeronimo, Vice President of Client Devices at IDC.
Xiaomi ranked third in terms of shipments, holding 13.1% of the global market, followed by Vivo with 8.2% and Oppo with 8.1%.
According to IDC, total global smartphone sales increased by 1.9% last year, reaching 1.26 billion units. In the fourth quarter, there was also a growth of 2.3%, totaling 336.3 million devices.
