Xabi Alonso has left the position of coach of Real Madrid
The head coach of the Madrid club "Real," Xabi Alonso, has resigned after just eight months in this position, as reported by the BBC. He has been replaced by Álvaro Arbeloa, who previously played alongside Alonso for both the Spanish national team and the English club "Liverpool."
The last time "Real" faced "Barcelona" was on January 11, in the final of the Spanish Super Cup, where they suffered a defeat. In the current championship, the team is in second place, trailing their main rival by four points.
Xabi Alonso spent five seasons at "Real" as a player. In his coaching career, he became the German champion with "Bayer" in 2024, and then last year he was appointed as the head coach of the Madrid club, succeeding Carlo Ancelotti, a well-known specialist in the world of football.
