Western media learned that the military presented Trump with options for strikes against Iran. Tehran warned of retaliatory measures in case of an attack.

According to the information presented in the publication, the proposed strike options may affect civilian targets in Tehran; however, specific details have not been disclosed.

As reported by sources to The New York Times, Trump has not yet made a decision but is actively considering the possibility of sanctioning new military actions. One senior military official noted that before any potential attack, American positions would need to be prepared, and potential Iranian retaliatory actions would need to be taken into account.

Other information published in The Wall Street Journal confirms that discussions of various options took place within the Trump administration. One official mentioned the possibility of a large-scale airstrike on Iranian military facilities. However, another source pointed out that there is no consensus on this issue, and American military forces have not been redeployed in preparation for possible strikes.

Discussions, according to sources, are part of the normal planning process, and at this time, there are no signs that an attack on Iran is imminent.

In response to a request for comments, the White House pointed to Trump's post on the social network Truth Social, where the president states: "Iran is seeking freedom, perhaps like never before. The U.S. is ready to help!!!".

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the speaker of the Iranian parliament, stated that any attack by the U.S. would provoke retaliatory actions from Tehran aimed at Israel and American military bases in the region, which would be considered "legitimate targets".

Protests in Iran began on December 28, triggered by the fall of the national currency and high inflation. Protests spread across the country, and two cities in the west came under the control of demonstrators. Authorities began suppressing the protests, leading to an almost complete internet shutdown. According to some reports, the number of fatalities exceeds 200 people; however, exact figures are still unknown.
