More than 550,000 residents of the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation are left without electricity and heating after a strike by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Gladkov reported that the strike was aimed at engineering facilities, including the "Storozheva" substation and the "Luch" CHPP, according to information from the Telegram channel "Ashes".
As of the morning of January 9, it became known that 556,000 people in six municipalities of the region were left without electricity and heating. Additionally, 1,920 apartment buildings were without heating, and nearly 200,000 citizens lost access to water supply and sewage.
“All emergency services are working at the scene. <…> We are connecting backup power sources that were installed in recent months. Restoration work is underway where possible. With the arrival of morning, we will be able to assess the damage and recovery timelines more accurately. The situation is extremely difficult, but I hope that we will be able to cope with it,” the governor emphasized.
