A Major Explosion Occurred on the Sun

A solar explosion was recorded on January 8, reports the Solar Astronomy Laboratory.

According to scientists, a significant explosion occurred on the Sun in the middle of the day, which is visible in the images obtained from coronagraphs — the material spread in different directions. The source of this phenomenon was located on the far side of the Sun, and currently, there are no observations available from satellites.

The laboratory notes that two weeks ago, when the invisible side of the Sun was facing Earth, nothing unusual was detected, only a few medium-sized active regions.

“If this explosion is related to one of those regions, then judging by the direction of the ejection, the flare occurred in a group of spots located below the equator on the right side of the visible solar disk (the group was numbered 4321),” explained the astronomers.

Experts noted that the location of the explosion will only be visible in a week when the group of spots begins to appear on the horizon from the left (eastern) side.
