"Half a hundred hungry sheep 'captured' a supermarket in Bavaria"

In the southern part of Germany, in Bavaria, a curious event occurred: about 50 sheep unexpectedly "invaded" a Penny supermarket. For approximately 20 minutes, the animals roamed freely around the store while employees tried to usher them back outside by banging on the counters, reports The Telegraph.

A recording of the incident shows the flock entering the sales area and then, frightened by their audacity, leaving the supermarket. The German television channel ZDF noted that "the sheep caused complete chaos" and even joked that they took the store's slogan "First to Penny" too literally.

According to local media, the sheep strayed from their path, separating from their main flock, which consists of 500 heads. The shepherd explained that the animals mistook a bag of groceries for food and headed to the store in search of feed. This event attracted the attention of not only local residents but also the German embassy in London.

In a statement, the embassy said: "On Monday morning, 50 runaway sheep caused a real commotion in a supermarket in rural Bavaria. Having separated from their flock, the cheeky sheep wandered around Penny for 20 minutes before turning around and leaving."

For its part, the Penny supermarket promised to provide the sheep with a year's supply of feed, noting that this unusual incident drew additional attention to the store and became an unexpected advertisement.
