Zelensky urged the U.S. to detain Kadyrov like Maduro. The Chechen leader responded.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the American authorities to land troops in Chechnya and detain its leader Ramzan Kadyrov, just like they did with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Zelensky made this suggestion during a conversation with journalists, as reported by "Strana.ua".
According to him, such measures could exert significant pressure on Moscow.
“America has the necessary tools. When they really want to, they can use them. The main thing is for Ukraine to remain a priority for them. We need to find ways to pressure Russia,” the president emphasized, citing the situation with Maduro as an example.
Zelensky added: “Here’s the example with Maduro. The operation was carried out, and the whole world saw its consequences. If they can carry out a similar operation with Kadyrov, perhaps Putin will notice and think twice.”
In response to this statement, Kadyrov said that Zelensky's call for the U.S. to kidnap him, as was done with Maduro, highlights the attempts of the Ukrainian leadership to “undermine the peaceful resolution of the conflict.” He expressed this opinion on his Telegram channel.
According to Kadyrov, it is noteworthy that Zelensky did not suggest carrying out the kidnapping himself but turned to the U.S. The head of Chechnya considers this a sign of cowardice: “You cowardly hint that you would prefer to stay on the sidelines and watch someone else punish your offender, the formidable Ramzan Kadyrov.”
“Now you are asking the Americans for help, saying that if they couldn’t provide assistance with weapons, at least kidnap Ramzan. Preserve your dignity and don’t humiliate yourself. If you had a drop of courage, you would understand how humiliating your words and requests sound,” Kadyrov addressed the Ukrainian president.
He also added that “the enemy may enter our republic, but they will not be able to leave.”
