The box office revenue of the film "Avatar: Flame and Ash" exceeded $1 billion in three weeks.
In its third weekend of release in the U.S., the film earned $40 million, according to preliminary data from the studio released on Sunday.
Representatives of Walt Disney Co. described "Avatar: Flame and Ash" as "a new monumental achievement within the outstanding franchise of James Cameron."
In second place is Disney's "Zootopia 2," which has earned $1.59 billion, making it the second highest-grossing animated film in the company's history, surpassed only by the photorealistic "The Lion King" from 2019, which grossed $1.66 billion.
Additionally, the thriller "The Maid" featuring Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried has also become a popular choice among viewers during the Christmas season, earning recognition from Lionsgate.
