Actor Mickey Rourke raised $100,000 to pay off housing rental debts

After Mickey Rourke released a statement regarding the launched campaign on GoFundMe, which raised $100,000 in support, he was outraged and stated that he had no knowledge of it.

Last month, the 73-year-old actor received a notice of overdue rent amounting to $59,100 and was forced to leave his apartment in Los Angeles within three days. In response, a campaign was initiated with the goal of "helping cover urgent housing expenses and avoiding losing his home."
In a video posted on his Instagram page, Rourke expressed his displeasure about the fundraiser, noting that he was unaware of what was happening. He remarked that he was "confused" and did not understand why someone decided to create a GoFundMe campaign in his name.

The actor added: "This is not about me, you understand? If I really needed money, I wouldn't ask for any charity. I'd rather shoot myself."

Addressing the campaign's initiator, Rourke said: "I don't know what GoFundMe is. My life is simple, and I don't ask strangers for help."

The campaign was initiated by Leah-Joel Jones, who introduced herself as the assistant to Rourke's manager, Kimberly Hines. In her message on GoFundMe, she claimed that "the fundraiser was organized with Mickey's full permission."

However, in his video, Rourke called this initiative "shameful," adding: "I'm sure I can get through this, just like everything else."
