IOC officially closed access for transgender athletes to women's Olympic categories

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced new rules for eligibility in women's categories. According to the new policy, participation in these categories will be allowed exclusively for biological women. This rule will apply to all sporting events under the auspices of the IOC, including the Olympic Games. The document states that compliance with the new requirements will be verified through a one-time test for the presence of the SRY gene.

These changes will take effect for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Experts note that this decision coincides with an order from former U.S. President Donald Trump aimed at protecting women's sports. At the same time, the exact number of transgender athletes participating in the Olympic Games remains unknown. It is worth noting that no athlete who transitioned from male to female has been registered for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

The new rules take effect immediately and will be fundamental in shaping the rosters for future Olympic competitions. IOC representatives emphasize that the introduction of these measures is necessary to maintain fair competition and preserve the integrity of women's sports worldwide. This decision has already sparked a strong reaction within the sports community and is likely to become a primary standard for international sports federations.
