The IOC banned transgender athletes from participating in women's competitions
According to the new policy, the right to participate in the Olympic Games and other events organized by the IOC among women will be granted only to biological women. This provision will be determined through tests for the presence of the SRY gene, as clarified by the committee's press service.
This decision is aimed at ensuring fairness, safety, and equity in women's competitions and will take effect from the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028. However, it will not have retroactive effect and will not impact amateur and recreational sporting events.
