Conor McGregor may fight on July 11 at UFC 330. The main contender to fight him is Max Holloway.
Initially, the UFC planned to host McGregor's return at the "UFC Freedom 250" event, which was supposed to take place at the White House. However, due to the event's unprofitability and the high cost of McGregor's participation, these plans were revised. Another reason for the change was the UFC's collaboration with the streaming service Paramount+, which led to a rejection of the Pay-per-view model.
Thus, the league's focus shifted to UFC 330, which will take place during International Fight Week on July 11. Ariel Helwani noted that McGregor's absence from this event would be a significant setback and expressed confidence that he would still compete.
McGregor himself confirmed that he had been in negotiations with the UFC and was pleased with the outcome. "Mr. Confidence is back to save the fight industry! I'm beyond excited. Call your grandmas, because I'm coming back," he stated.
Max Holloway also expressed his readiness for the fight, offering to compete in any weight class that McGregor chooses. "I want a rematch. It will be an interesting bout because Conor won't try to take me down," he wrote on his social media.
It is worth noting that McGregor and Holloway have already faced each other in the octagon in August 2013, when the Irishman won by unanimous decision.
