Champions League: Real Madrid, PSG, and Arsenal advance to the quarter-finals
The French PSG, the reigning champion of the tournament, once again triumphed over London’s Chelsea, this time in an away match with the same result — 3:0. Thus, the overall score of the two matches was 8:2 in favor of the Parisians.
In the quarter-finals, PSG will face the team that emerges from the pair Liverpool - Galatasaray, where the first match ended with a score of 0:1.
Real Madrid also confidently advanced, defeating Manchester City with a final score of 3:0 at home and 2:1 in the return match. City’s captain Bernardo Silva was sent off in the 20th minute for a handball, allowing Vinicius to convert a penalty.
Although Erling Haaland managed to equalize in the first half, Vinicius stepped back into the spotlight, scoring the decisive goal at the very end of the match.
Now Real Madrid awaits the winner of the match Bayern - Atalanta in the quarter-finals, where the first match ended with a score of 6:1.
London’s Arsenal, which emerged as the winner of the group stage, advanced to the next round by defeating Bayer at home with a score of 2:0. Recall that the first match in Germany ended in a 1:1 draw.
Arsenal will face Sporting in the quarter-finals, which managed to make an impressive comeback in the match against Bodo/Glimt, coming back from a score of 0:3.
The remaining four teams that will secure their spots in the quarter-finals will be known on March 19.
