Myktybek Orolbai Uulu Sets New Record in UFC

Kyrgyz mixed martial artist Myktybek Orolbay uulu has set an impressive record in the welterweight division (77 kg) of the UFC, achieving the most successful takedowns in a single fight.

This record was established on March 15 at UFC Fight Night 269, which took place in Las Vegas, in a bout against American Chris Curtis.

During the fight, Orolbay uulu completed 19 takedowns, marking a new historical achievement in the welterweight division. From the very beginning of the match, it was evident that the Kyrgyz fighter was struggling in stand-up against the southpaw. In the first minute, he managed to take Curtis down and from that point on controlled the pace of the fight, adding another 18 successful transitions to his statistics.

The record for the most takedowns in a single UFC fight belongs to lightweight fighter (70 kg) Khabib Nurmagomedov, who completed 21 takedowns against Abel Trujillo in 2013.

In second place is bantamweight fighter (61 kg) Merab Dvalishvili, who was able to execute 20 successful takedowns in a match against Cory Sandhagen in 2025.
