At a meeting of the parliamentary committee on science, education, culture, sports, and youth affairs, Deputy Saltanat Amanova proposed the need for increased government support for the Salburoon Federation. She emphasized that significant expenses are incurred in maintaining hunting birds and other animals.

Amanova highlighted that the Salburoon Federation plays a key role in preserving nomadic culture, and its services are in demand when organizing receptions for foreign delegations. She noted that the maintenance of golden eagles, taigans, and racehorses requires substantial financial investments, which are currently hardly supported by the government.

“It is important to pay attention to the health and nutrition of the animals, as well as the work of veterinarians. In the Ton district, there are only a few masters left who engage in this practice. If we do not provide them with support, we may lose this unique tradition,” the deputy added.

In response to her initiative, a representative of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports reported that 11 million soms are allocated for the Salburoon Federation for the year 2026. However, as Amanova pointed out, these funds are intended solely for organizing competitions and do not cover the ongoing expenses for animal care. She called for a review of the funding to help the masters preserve this dying art of national hunting.
Salburoon is a traditional hunting method among the Kyrgyz, involving hunting with a golden eagle, bow, and taigan, which is a national breed of hunting greyhounds. This practice is considered an important part of the intangible cultural heritage of nomadic civilization.
