In Kyrgyzstan, there are over 200 sports federations, and for some sports, their number exceeds one. At a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Science, Education, Innovations, Culture, Sports, and Youth Affairs, Nursultan Kurmanaly uulu, a representative of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, announced the intention to introduce national accreditation for these federations.

As part of the first reading, a draft law proposing amendments to the law "On Physical Culture and Sports" is being considered.

Deputy Gulsharkan Kultaeva emphasized the importance of transparency in the accreditation process, as well as the need for a clear structure of financing and requirements. She noted that federations not related to Olympic sports also represent the country on the international stage; however, the state does not sufficiently support their activities.

Nursultan Kurmanaly uulu explained that accreditation would provide a legal basis for this process, although funding issues are not included within its scope. "We rely on international experience. In neighboring countries, federations receive state accreditation for their work. This practice was in place until 2017, when it was abolished, leading to confusion. As a result, in some sports, several federations have emerged that cannot coordinate their activities, creating conflicts. Accreditation criteria will be developed after the draft law is adopted. Accreditation will only apply to those federations recognized by international organizations," he added.

The deputy also clarified the number of active federations in the country. "You mention federations that do not meet the requirements. But I believe that everyone can engage in any sport and achieve success," she noted.

In response, Nursultan Kurmanaly uulu stated that his words were misinterpreted. "If the draft law is adopted, only one federation will be recognized for each sport. For example, in Kyrgyzstan, there is only one federation for volleyball. However, there are several for karate, and this hinders athletes from participating in international competitions due to the lack of international accreditation and the resulting competition," he explained.
