According to the press service of the parliament, the discussion focused on current issues in the sports sector and the need to improve the legislative framework. Athletes had previously raised concerns regarding their challenges in this area.
Mamataliyev emphasized that in recent years, physical culture and sports have received significant attention from the state. As an example, he mentioned the construction of new sports facilities with the support of President Sadyr Japarov.
The Speaker noted that legislation in the field of sports already requires updating and comprehensive revision. "It is important to work together, share opinions, and discuss relevant issues. No one understands the difficulties faced by athletes better than you," he stated.
He also stressed that for the effective development of sports, it is necessary to clearly define the powers of agencies and federations, as well as establish transparent mechanisms for the expenditure of budgetary funds.
Additionally, it was proposed to create a separate law concerning professional sports, which would take into account the work experience of athletes and provide them with support in employment after the end of their sports careers. It is also important to develop a mechanism for participation in national and international competitions and ensure state support in case of accidents.
Mamataliyev noted that it is necessary to align anti-doping regulations with international standards and increase the accountability of athletes. He highlighted the importance of developing partnerships between the public and private sectors, as well as creating conditions to attract investments and developing long-term strategies for the development of sports over 5 and 10 years.
Coaches and athletes also presented their proposals at the meeting, which will be taken into account in the development of new legislative initiatives.
