The Czech Republic has decided not to participate in the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games, which will take place in Italy. According to Novinky, this decision is related to the lifting of restrictions for Russian athletes.

In a statement from the press service of the Czech Paralympic Committee, it is noted: “Our athletes will not be present at the opening of the Games in Verona. We will not have flag bearers in Cortina d'Ampezzo, and the addresses of our athletes, planned to be shown at the ceremony, are also canceled.”

Earlier, the Ukrainian team announced its intention to boycott the opening ceremony of the Paralympics. Later, Estonia, Lithuania, and Poland joined this movement, with their representatives also not attending the event.

The Paralympic Games are scheduled from March 6 to 15. Six Russians have received bilateral invitations to participate in these games: skiers Alexey Bugayev, Varvara Voronchikhina, Ivan Golubkov, Anastasia Bagiayan, and Sergey Sinyakin, as well as snowboarders Dmitry Fadeev and Philipp Shebbo Monzer. Russian athletes will compete under national flags.
