The Drama of the Swedes and the Triumph of the Norwegians
The women's ski relay on the Val di Fiemme course became one of the most thrilling and unpredictable races of the day.A key moment occurred during the second leg when Swedish skier Ebba Andersson lost her balance on a steep section and fell, performing a sort of somersault. Fortunately, she did not sustain serious injuries but broke a ski.
Andersson was forced to cover the distance by pushing off with one leg until she could reach her coaches for a new ski. During this time, her competitors significantly increased their lead.
Ultimately, Andersson finished her leg in eighth place, trailing the leaders by 78 seconds. Nevertheless, the Swedish team managed to come back into contention and secure third place, while Norway won gold and Finland took silver.
