Today, "Olympique Marseille" announced the termination of cooperation with Roberto De Zerbi, who held the position of head coach of the team. The dismissal was a result of a crushing defeat to "Paris Saint-Germain" with a final score of 0:5 in the match known as Le Classique.
The Italian, who previously worked at the English club "Brighton," led "Marseille" to silver medals in Ligue 1 last season. However, in the current season, the team's results have been less successful: at the time of his dismissal, the club was in fourth place in the championship, trailing the leader "PSG" by a full 12 points, and had already concluded its participation in the Champions League.
In the official press release, the club noted that the decision to part ways with De Zerbi was made jointly by the owner, president, and sports management in the interest of the team and taking into account the remaining part of the season. The management of "Marseille" also expressed gratitude to the coach for his professionalism and dedication, wishing him luck in his future endeavors.
