At the Asian Cycling Championship held in Saudi Arabia, Igor Filin from Kyrgyzstan won a gold medal, reported the Cycling Federation of Kyrgyzstan.

The competition took place on the road in the Masters 60–64 category over a distance of 62.4 km.

This event is significant as Filin brought the first gold medal in a road race for Kyrgyzstan in the entire history of the country's independence. Additionally, this award marks the fifth gold medal for Kyrgyzstan at the Asian Road Cycling Championships.

Previously, gold medals at continental championships were won by Evgeny Vakker in 2007, 2008, 2011, and 2012 in individual races.

“Igor Filin's achievement holds special value for the development of cycling in Kyrgyzstan. This success highlights the competitiveness of our athletes on the international stage and indicates a high level of training, even among participants in the masters categories. The gold medal in the road race symbolizes the sustainable development of domestic cycling and its potential on the world stage,” the federation noted.
