On the first day of the championship, Safronov participated in the individual time trial over a distance of 20 km among juniors.
He finished with a time of 26 minutes and 30 seconds, which corresponds to an average speed of 45.3 km/h. He was 2 minutes and 8.15 seconds behind the leader, a cyclist from Japan.
In the final standings, Safronov ranked 11th among 15 participants.
