Ronaldo is set to boycott the upcoming Al-Nassr game
According to sources, Ronaldo is dissatisfied with the current state of affairs at Al-Nassr, particularly regarding the club's management by the Public Investment Fund (PIF). He believes that the club is at a disadvantage compared to other teams also under PIF's control. The player expresses frustration over the lack of investment and feels that the club's sports policy lacks ambitious goals. The situation has been exacerbated by modest activity in the transfer market: the only acquisition has been 21-year-old Iraqi midfielder Haider Abdulkarim, which does not meet the expectations of head coach Jorge Jesus, who has not received the necessary reinforcements for problematic positions.
Internal club affairs are also causing tension. Despite the presence of Portuguese individuals in key positions—Simao Coutinho as sporting director and Jose Semedo as general director—their powers were limited by a decision from the board of directors earlier this month, which Ronaldo believes weakens the team and threatens its competitiveness.
Comparisons with main rival Al-Hilal, which is also managed by PIF, amplify Ronaldo's sense of injustice. Al-Hilal is actively pursuing a transfer policy, signing players such as Spanish defender Pablo Mari and French forward Kader Bayo for a total of 30 million euros. Previously, Jorge Jesus, the head coach of Al-Nassr, publicly stated that his club does not have the political strength that Al-Hilal possesses, which caused a significant stir in the world of Saudi football.
The match against Al-Riyadh is scheduled for February 2. In the current season, Al-Nassr is in second place in the table, trailing Al-Hilal by three points.
