Europe wants to boycott the World Cup due to tensions surrounding Greenland
Some football officials from Germany and France have already expressed their opinion that they should withdraw from the tournament. Similar discussions are also taking place in the British Parliament. Moreover, the Economist claims that this issue has become a topic of discussion in the European Parliament in Brussels.
Earlier this year, ideas about boycotting the championship arose after the actions of the United States regarding the ousting of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. In particular, there were proposals to strip the U.S. of its right to host the tournament, moving the matches to Canada and Mexico.
Additionally, fans have also begun protest actions: in just one night, they returned about 17,000 tickets for matches that are supposed to take place in the U.S.
