In the lead-up to the Winter Games in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, UK Sport, the sports agency of Great Britain, has announced its ambitious plans for medal acquisition. The Olympic team aims for 4–8 medals, surpassing the previous record of five medals set at the Sochi Games in 2014 and Pyeongchang in 2018. The Paralympians are targeting 2–5 medals, reflecting cautious optimism in light of existing challenges.

Thanks to the allocation of £32.5 million from lottery funding, 55 athletes have gained access to modern training technologies, significantly enhancing their training process. Key medal contenders include Mia Brooks (snowboarding), Kirsty Muir and Zoe Atkin (freestyle), Bruce Mouat (curling), and Matt Weston (skeleton). Recent achievements at world championships in various disciplines have bolstered confidence in a successful performance.

Although Great Britain has historical limitations in winter sports, including limited access to snow and ice, experts note that careful preparation and the scheduling of competitions in the European time zone provide the team with an important competitive advantage. Goals for the Paralympic team are somewhat tempered due to injuries and a lack of competitions, but the overall mood remains positive.
