"Barcelona" defeated "Real" and won the Supercopa de España
In the final of the Spanish Super Cup, held at the "King Abdullah Sports City" stadium, "Barcelona" defeated Madrid's "Real" with a narrow margin of 3:2. The main hero of the match was Brazilian forward Raphinha, who scored two goals, including the decisive one in the 73rd minute. His shot, although not the most accurate, turned out to be effective thanks to a deflection off defender Raúl Asensio, which confused goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
The first half was very dynamic, and its conclusion turned into a real show: three goals were scored in stoppage time. Raphinha opened the scoring in the 36th minute, getting into a striking position. In response, Vinícius Júnior, breaking his goal drought, brilliantly dribbled past several defenders and equalized in added time.
Just two minutes later, "Barcelona" took the lead again thanks to a goal from Robert Lewandowski, but before the break, Gonzalo García restored parity once more.
The second half of the match was marked by intense competition. A key moment occurred after Raphinha's second goal. In the 76th minute, Kylian Mbappé came onto the field after missing the semifinal due to a knee injury, but he could not change the course of the match in favor of "Real".
In stoppage time of the second half, "Barcelona" midfielder Frenkie de Jong received a red card, but the team managed to maintain their advantage until the final whistle.
The road to the final for "Barcelona" was successful: they crushed "Athletic" Bilbao 5:0, while "Real" defeated "Atlético" 2:1 in the semifinals.
Rafael Lusan, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, announced that the Spanish Super Cup final in 2027 will take place either in Qatar or Kuwait, as Saudi Arabia will host the Asian Cup that year. The return of the tournament to Saudi Arabia is scheduled for 2028, where it will remain until 2030.
Meanwhile, in the Spanish championship, matches of the next round took place for teams not participating in the Super Cup: "Espanyol" drew with "Levante" (1:1), while "Rayo Vallecano" won at home against "Mallorca" (2:1).
After 19 rounds of La Liga, "Barcelona" occupies the top position in the table, leading "Real" by four points.
