Young Talents: Shahlo Osmonakhunova from the city of Kara-Kul intends to dedicate her life to boxing
Shakhlo Osmonakhunova, a 17-year-old athlete from Kara-Kul in the Jalal-Abad region, is actively engaged in Olympic-style boxing.
She discovered her love for this sport at the age of 14, and since 2023, she has been regularly attending a boxing club.
Currently, Shakhlo is in the 11th grade at school No. 3.
“I started boxing of my own accord. I have been interested in this sport for a long time, but I didn’t know that there was a club in our city. At the moment, I am training and plan to dedicate my life to sports — I dream of becoming a boxing master and eventually working as a coach to nurture a new generation of athletes,” she shares.
Shakhlo emphasized her determination to continue in sports, noting that boxing plays an important role in her life.
Training Conditions
The athlete openly speaks about the shortcomings of the training facilities in Kara-Kul.
“The conditions in our training hall leave much to be desired. We don’t have a ring, and we can only train with basic equipment. But I hope that in the future, the conditions will improve, and the hall will become modern,” she added.
In her opinion, there have been changes in the city’s infrastructure and positive shifts in recent years.
Shakhlo is not the only one in her family who is passionate about boxing — her younger sister also practices this sport, which confirms the support for sports initiatives in their family.
Sports Achievements
In 2024, Shakhlo participated in the boxing championship of the Kyrgyz Republic for girls and teenagers born in 2008–2009, which took place in Bishkek. In the 57 kg weight category, she took third place.
This achievement was recognized by the local authorities of Kara-Kul. The athlete and her coach, Kultaev Bakyt, received monetary awards from the mayor's office, the city council, and local deputies.
