Hundreds of Migrants Deported from Tyumen Region, but Some Were Given Exceptions
The majority of the deported migrants are citizens of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan, and all of them were escorted to the border under guard. However, now participants in hostilities and contract servicemen of the Russian Federation are protected from deportation.
As of April 3, new rules have come into effect, according to which certain categories of foreign nationals cannot be deported. The new federal law protects migrants and stateless persons who have served in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation or participated in hostilities. Instead of deportation, they are subject to administrative fines or community service.
Thus, a special category of foreigners — veterans of the special military operation — are no longer subject to mass expulsions. Authorities emphasize that this decision was made to protect their rights and acknowledge their participation in hostilities.
According to official sources, in 2025, more than 100,000 migrants arrived in the Tyumen region, mainly from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. Official documents note that migration processes have an impact on the crime rate in the region.
