The decision was made by a French-speaking court that reviewed the case of "Bakay Bank" against the non-governmental organization Open Dialogue Foundation (ODF).
In 2023, ODF released materials recommending sanctions against the bank, claiming its possible involvement in schemes to circumvent embargoes in favor of Russia. In response, "Bakay Bank" filed a lawsuit to protect its business reputation.

The court found that ODF made serious accusations without sufficient evidence. As a result, the organization was required to remove the disputed materials, publish the text of the court decision on its website, and cover the legal costs.
Askat Alagozov emphasized that this decision confirms the groundlessness of the accusations against Kyrgyz financial institutions.
He also reminded that earlier "Keremet Bank" and "Capital Bank" were subjected to sanctions by the USA and the UK. However, as the press secretary noted, specific evidence of violations is not publicly available.
President Sadyr Japarov has repeatedly denied accusations against domestic banks, emphasizing Kyrgyzstan's readiness to conduct an independent international audit.
According to Alagozov, the decision of the Brussels court highlights Kyrgyzstan's commitment to international law norms and its readiness to defend the interests of national business on the global stage.
