At a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, Attorney General Maksat Asanaliev reported that 386 statements are being considered regarding the employees of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB). Deputy Nurbek Sydygaliev raised the question about the current state of affairs in the GKNB, inquiring about the number of detainees and initiated criminal cases.
In response to this question, Asanaliev noted that the Military Prosecutor's Office is conducting investigations into 18 criminal cases related to corruption and official crimes. Currently, 9 employees have been held accountable, of which 8 are in custody and one is under house arrest. Additionally, there is an investigation into one criminal case that has the status of "secret".
The Attorney General also clarified that out of the 386 statements regarding GKNB employees, some cases have already transitioned into criminal proceedings, while others are still under verification. In some instances, requests to initiate cases have been denied.
Regarding the legality of the "kusturization" procedure, Asanaliev emphasized that the seizure of property and its transfer to the state occurred based on decisions from investigative bodies, the prosecutor's office, or the court for the purpose of compensation for damages. He noted that the prosecutor's office exercised control over the legality of these actions.
According to the Attorney General, a significant portion of the seized property has already been transferred to the state fund, and the monetary funds are held in deposit accounts of the investigative bodies or transferred to the Ministry of Finance. At the same time, he pointed out that voluntary and sponsorship contributions were not monitored by the prosecutor's office, as they were not related to criminal cases.
Asanaliev added that within the framework of current investigations, possible cases of illegal appropriation or use of property and finances for personal interests are also being checked, for which additional investigations are ongoing.
