During a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Germany, Omurbek Tekebaev, noted that knowledge of the German language is essential for successful studies in that country. According to him, there is a high interest among the youth of Kyrgyzstan in studying in Germany.
“To go study in this country, it is enough to master the German language. Some people come to me for help in obtaining study quotas, but such a system does not exist in Germany. Education there is provided for free, and even if all those wishing from Kyrgyzstan go to study, it will not require expenses. Moreover, students receive scholarships of about 1200 dollars. The main requirement is knowledge of the language,” Tekebaev added.
He also emphasized the importance of language education in schools. “Last year, a program was adopted that excluded the German language from school education. Now it is not taught at the state's expense. Each year, the number of those wishing to study in Germany increases, but now this responsibility falls on the parents. At the same time, neighboring countries—Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan—continue to teach the German language at the state level,” the ambassador noted.
