Salimzhanov explained the completion of the campaign for the free replacement of indefinite driver's licenses.
At a press conference held on March 31 in Bishkek, Boobek Salimzhanov, Deputy Chief of Staff of the President, noted that due to numerous complaints about the suspension of the license replacement campaign starting April 1, he decided to clarify the situation.
According to him, the campaign concerned drivers whose licenses did not indicate an expiration date, meaning only the issuance date was specified.
Salimzhanov emphasized: "We announced the campaign specifically for such drivers so they could exchange their old licenses for new ones free of charge."
He also reported that over the 2.5 months of the program's operation, the state lost 350 million soms due to the free replacements. "The replacement of licenses continues until the end of the year for those who have not yet had the chance to do so. No certificate is required for this. However, starting April 1, the fee for plastic licenses will be 1,389 soms. Indefinite licenses remain valid, but they must be replaced by the end of the year," the Deputy Chief of Staff added.
Salimzhanov also clarified that the replacement of driver's licenses that have an expiration date is carried out on a paid basis and requires a medical certificate.
