The Department of Education of the Bishkek City Hall has announced the holding of a Decade of Reading, which will take place from April 10 to April 20, 2026, in connection with the celebration of Book Day.
As part of this initiative, various cultural and educational events are planned at all general education and preschool institutions in the capital. Their goal is to promote reading among young people.
Educational institutions will host literary hours, book exhibitions, meetings with authors, expressive reading contests, as well as events called "Reading Together." In addition, participants will be able to engage with thematic quizzes and interactive activities.
The main task of the Decade of Reading is to instill an interest in books and reading, to form a reading culture among young people, to broaden their horizons, and to cultivate a love for literary fiction.
The Department of Education encourages children, educators, and parents to actively participate in the events and support this initiative aimed at strengthening the traditions of reading and the spiritual development of the younger generation.
