According to the mayor, the current location of the market is privately owned, which limits revenue to the local budget. "The income from the market's operations is low, and there are many problems. All issues related to sanitary conditions, illegal trade, and other problems fall on the municipality. All criticism is also directed at us. Therefore, we have decided to take full responsibility for the construction of the new market and its further operation. We are currently working on the issue of the land plot for the new market. If we receive a positive decision, the project will be implemented within the framework of a public-private partnership," Tajibaev said.
The mayor also noted that the city has already attracted interested investors willing to build commercial facilities. In particular, a three-story modern shopping center is planned to be created on the site of the old market.
According to the project concept, large retail chains will be located on the first floor, boutiques and small shops on the second, and entertainment zones and playgrounds for children on the third floor. "If the market relocation takes place, we will also discuss with the owner of the current site the possibility of building a similar shopping center at the old location," the mayor added.
The local administration is confident that the implementation of this project will help relieve the central part of the city, improve sanitary conditions, and increase revenues to the local budget.
