According to information from the Ministry of Education, this academic year, registration will be conducted exclusively for the first grade. The previously available option for enrolling seven-year-old children in the second grade has been canceled.
Who can be enrolled in the first grade
For the 2026/27 academic year, children will be accepted into the first grade if they were born:- from January 1 to December 31, 2019;
- as well as from January 1 to December 31, 2020.
Registration Stages
Electronic registration will be conducted on a territorial basis.- The first stage will begin on April 1 at 10:00 and will be available for children whose parents or legal representatives have permanent registration in the school's microdistrict.
- The second stage will start on June 1 at 10:00 and will be open to all children if there are available spots, regardless of the parents' registration.
Class Size Restrictions
The number of places in the first grades is calculated automatically based on data about the number of students in the fourth grades from the previous year.The maximum class size will be 42 students:
- if there were 25-41 students in the fourth grades, the quota is set based on that number;
- if there are fewer than 25, the school is required to create a class with at least 25 places.
Required Documents
At the stage of electronic registration, medical documents do not need to be uploaded. However, after enrollment, parents will need to provide the school with:- the original medical certificate;
- a vaccination record.
Rules for Parents
If preschool-age children do not appear in the system, parents should add them in their personal account or contact the Ministry of Education's call center.In the case of registration by a legal representative, it is necessary to upload a confirming document. One representative may register no more than two children in the system.
Parents can cancel their application in the system no more than three times; after the third cancellation, access to changes is blocked.
Who Must Be Enrolled Out of Turn
There are cases when children are accepted into school out of turn:- Children of educational workers have priority for enrollment in the school at their place of work.
- If one of the twins, triplets, or quadruplets is admitted to the first grade, the other children must also be enrolled in the same school, which automatically increases the quota.
What to Do If You Missed Registration?
If parents miss the registration deadlines, the issue of enrollment will be resolved by the Commission for Children's Affairs based on a written request.Families who move during the academic year can choose schools with available places, regardless of their place of residence. Registration is conducted through the AIS "Kündölük".
Ban on Testing for Admission
When enrolling in the first grade of municipal and state schools, it is prohibited to conduct exams or tests aimed at assessing children's knowledge. This is a violation of the law.Private schools may participate in electronic registration at their discretion.
