Residents of the village of Nur request the installation of a traffic light at a dangerous section of the Bishkek—Naryn—Torugart highway
Turmush reported that on March 26, a meeting is taking place in Tokmok between representatives of government agencies and local residents of the eastern zone of the Chui region (including Kemin, Chui, Issyk-Ata, and Alamedin districts). This event is organized at the instruction of President Sadyr Japarov to promptly address local issues.
Local residents are voicing their concerns about the situation on this stretch of road. One of them noted: “Every time motorists turn right from the main highway to the village of Nur, accidents occur here. Recently, three major traffic accidents have been recorded, one of which, unfortunately, resulted in a fatality. We urgently request the installation of a traffic light at this intersection, as neither pedestrians nor drivers can safely cross the road due to the heavy flow of vehicles.”
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs' State Traffic Safety Department, this section of the road has international status. Currently, speed limit signs have been installed on this stretch, limiting speeds to 60-70 km/h.
Kanybek Abdyrahmanov, head of the Chui Regional Police Department, ordered round-the-clock monitoring by officers at this dangerous section. “Until all technical conditions and legal grounds for the installation of a traffic light or video surveillance cameras are met, you must ensure safety at this intersection at any time of day. The safety of citizens must be a priority,” he emphasized.
