The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic has made an important announcement for citizens who are in China or planning a trip to this country regarding new registration rules.
As of March 20, 2026, a pilot project has been launched in China that allows foreign citizens not staying in hotels to register online. This system has been implemented in several regions, such as Hebei, Liaoning, Zhejiang, Hubei, Sichuan provinces, as well as in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the city of Chongqing. There are plans to expand this practice nationwide in the future.
According to Chinese laws, if a foreigner is staying in a hotel, the hotel administration handles the registration. However, when staying in private accommodation, it is necessary to register either independently or through the host within 24 hours.
Now the registration process has become simpler — it can be done through the mobile application of the Chinese immigration service "移民局 12367", as well as with the help of mini-programs in WeChat and Alipay. In addition, there remains the option to register in person at public security authorities. Online registration has the same legal force as traditional registration.
