On March 19, ahead of International Day of Happiness, the latest version of the annual report on the happiest countries in the world, the World Happiness Report 2026, was presented.
Finland once again confirmed its status, taking first place for the ninth consecutive year. Iceland and Denmark ranked second and third, respectively. This year, a country from Latin America, Costa Rica, made its debut in the ranking, taking fourth place, while Sweden rounded out the top five.
Experts point out that the leading countries are characterized by a high level of social trust, a strong sense of community, accessibility of healthcare and educational services, as well as high trust in government institutions.
When compiling the ranking, parameters such as average life quality ratings, GDP levels, availability of social support, life expectancy, and corruption levels were taken into account.
