Practical Guides on Countering Extremism Developed in Kyrgyzstan
According to Prevention Media, the target audience for the manuals includes journalists, digital content creators, press service employees, and law enforcement officials. The main goal is to provide practical tools for working with sensitive issues and to reduce the risks associated with the spread of extremist ideas.
“These manuals are not only a theoretical foundation but also practical tools for the daily work of specialists. They contribute to the formation of responsible communication, reduce the risks of radicalization, and create a resilient information environment. Effective prevention of extremism requires a systematic approach to information and close cooperation between media and state structures,” the organization emphasizes.
The manuals highlight the importance of interaction between the media and law enforcement agencies, which is seen as a key factor in social resilience.
The manuals will help content creators navigate media legislation, understand constitutional rights, and adhere to professional ethics when discussing complex topics, avoiding hate speech. Police officers, in turn, study human rights approaches and modern communication principles, viewing the media as an important partner rather than just a source of information.
The next step will be the integration of these manuals into the training programs of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and professional development courses for media specialists. It is expected that this will help reduce the level of conflicts, strengthen trust in society, and create a safer information space.
