39-year-old Nazira Nuraeva from Talas, taking advantage of the social contract program, organized her own business and is now successfully developing poultry farming.

In an interview with a Turmush correspondent, she noted that she is a trained teacher. During her maternity leave, her family's income mainly depended on the allowance, which was 3,600 soms for three children, and the family was looking for additional ways to earn money.

“In 2024, we received 100,000 soms through the social contract and decided to start our own business. The idea to start raising chickens belonged to my husband, who had long been interested in this area. We brought 40 Leghorn chickens from Bishkek, paying about 1,800–2,000 soms for each. This breed is good because it lays eggs all year round,” she said.

However, the first experience turned out to be difficult: in winter, due to severe frosts, most of the chickens died. Nevertheless, the family did not give up on their venture.

“At that time, we had already started selling eggs and had acquired customers. Later, we tried again and bought Adler breed chickens. Now we get more than 20 eggs daily,” Nazira added.

She also reported that eggs from their farm are now mainly bought for incubation.

“Customers come and buy eggs for 50 soms each, but in winter the price drops to 15 soms,” she clarified.

With the proceeds from sales, the family primarily buys feed for the chickens. They mainly feed the birds crushed grain supplemented with wheat. “If you raise a high-quality breed, as with cattle, you can make a good profit. A rooster of the Adler breed now costs more than 2,000 soms, while an ordinary one costs only 500 soms. The difference is significant,” she shared.
Note: The "Social Contract" program was created to assist families receiving benefits in starting their own businesses and improving their living conditions. Since 2023, participants in the program can expect support of 100,000 soms, and starting this year, the amount has been increased to 150,000 soms. Among the entrepreneurs who started their businesses under this program, there are families with annual incomes exceeding one million soms, who have also created new jobs.
